Child Support
There are three main issues in the area of child support: determination, modification, and collection.  Our experienced attorneys have obtained favorable outcomes for our clients in all three.

Property Division
Another issue, which is highly contested in divorce proceedings, is the division of property.  California is a community property state, meaning that all property acquired by either partner, during the course of the marriage is considered property of the community, except for property acquired by gift or inheritance.  This includes real estate, vehicles, bank accounts, pensions and 401(k) accounts, just to name a few.  When a couple dissolves their marriage, all community assets and liabilities are supposed to be split equally.  However, disputes oftentimes arise in regards to the valuation of property and in categorization of marital property.
Protective Orders
Protective Orders in family law cases most often come up in cases of domestic violence or domestic abuse.  If you or your children have been a victim of domestic violence or abuse, you may seek protection through a temporary or permanent restraining order.
Spousal Support
Spousal support, or “alimony,” is the continuous payment by one spouse to another to maintain a certain standard of living following a divorce.  An initial determination of spousal support is made at the time of the divorce, based on each party’s income, during the marriage, and individual needs.
Stepchildren Adoption
In some families stepparents take a very active role in the upbringing of the children.  Whether it is because the children’s biological parent has passed, or simply absent from the child’s life, stepparents are “stepparents” only in title, and real parents in every other sense.  Under those circumstances, stepchildren adoptions may be very beneficial.
Child Custody and Visitation
One of the most contested and emotionally charged issues in the area of family law is child custody and visitation.  For most people there are few things, if any, as important to their happiness and well being as the happiness and well being of their children.  Further, the time that we get to spend with our children is already limited. Our attorneys are experienced in handling negotiated and litigated child custody disputes.
